Más de 1.000 startups de todos los rincones del mundo han participado en las 13 ediciones de la Startup Competition , que cada año elige a los 100 proyectos emprendedores más innovadores y disruptivos del planeta. Estas startups han alcanzado una tasa de supervivencia cercana al 90% y han generado un impacto significativo en el ecosistema: 15.300 millones de dólares captados en rondas de inversión, 11.400 millones en ingresos y la creación de casi 60.000 empleos. Además, han protagonizado más de 100 exits y ocho de ellas han logrado convertirse en unicornios, entre las que destacan las españolas Cabify, Factorial y JobandTalent. Desde su primera edición en 2011, la Startup Competition no sólo ha destacado por su impacto económico, sino también por su capacidad para atraer talento innovador de diferentes culturas y regiones. Prueba de ello es que un 19% de las startups participantes tiene origen español, mientras que el 21% procede del resto de Europa. También destacan las regiones de Latinoamérica, que representa el 29% de los proyectos, Asia Pacífico con un 13%, Norteamérica con un 11% y África con un 7%. Edición 2025 Con el respaldo de estas cifras, South Summit Madrid ya prepara la próxima edición de su Startup Competition, cuyo plazo de inscripción finaliza el próximo 31 de enero de 2025. Entre los proyectos más innovadores que han sido finalistas en la Startup Competition destaca IDOVEN, que ha contado con inversores de la talla de Pau Gasol e Iker Casillas y fue reconocida en 2021 en South Summit como la startup más disruptiva por su impacto en la prevención de enfermedades cardíacas mediante Inteligencia Artificial. La última edición de South Summit Madrid coronó a Navilens como la startup Más Sostenible y, desde entonces, sigue sumando espacios en grandes marcas como Nestlé, Foxy o Cinfa donde facilita información a personas con discapacidad visual a través de sus códigos. Al igual que hicieron estas y muchas otras startups en su momento, los 100 proyectos finalistas en la Startup Competition podrán dar a conocerse ante los inversores de primer nivel y representantes de compañías internacionales que acudirán a South Summit Madrid 2025, que está co-organizado por IE University y se celebrará del 4 al 6 de junio de 2025 en La Nave de Madrid bajo el lema ‘In Motion’. En su anterior edición, South Summit Madrid reunió a más de 18.000 asistentes de 133 países del ecosistema emprendedor global, entre los que se encontraban más de 6.500 emprendedores, 2.000 inversores con una cartera de inversión de más de 500.000 millones de dólares -174.000 millones más que el año pasado-, y 6.000 representantes de corporaciones de todo el mundo, además de 26 unicornios de gran renombre internacional.
