Lots of podcasters are making money on Patreon: $472m in the last year alone according to the latest stats released by the crowdfunding platform. It’s now building on that community  with the launch of a ‘podcast network program’ . It will enable podcasters to offer fan perks and other features, with options to sell collections of episodes, and sync feeds of their shows with Spotify. There is also a music partner for the announcement: Sony Music. It will be bringing shows including ‘Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness’, ‘Lipstick on the Rim’ and ‘This Is History’ to Patreon’s new program. The major label is one of two launch partners, with the other being Amazon Music-owned Wondery, with shows including ‘Scamfluencers’, ‘Killer Psyche’ and ‘Kurt Krömer – Feelings’. So, this isn’t about music podcasts per se, but  as we reported earlier this week , the intersection of podcast listeners and music superfans certainly shows the potential there.
